Tracking Weight Loss Daily

Losing weight is a non-profitable job! So why do you gain more after you lose some? This looks like a one step forward, two steps backward dance routine, doesn't it? It takes a lot of motivation -- only you are in control of your body.

To make it easier to lose weight and maintain your weight, here is an easy chart for you to log on DAILY to keep track of your body input and output. Remember to weigh yourself every morning after waking up as this will give a more constant weight to record. You can make this chart on Excel as a spreadsheet (I find this easier) or in Word as a table (less preferred). Excel will also allow you to make a graph of your daily weight versus the number of days so you can actually see your weight loss. Moreover, by recording the details of your weight regimen, you can understand why or why you are not losing weight but gaining!

Here is the spreadsheet I created for myself. You can copy this file to your computer for your records or make one similar to this. See chart image.

Remember to record your daily intake (food you ate, time, and quantity) and output (exercise). By logging in your daily regimen, you are being reminded to choose your food properly and by the amount of weight lost or gained, you will recognize that this particular food may have been at fault for your weight change.

People react differently to food because of one's body chemistry. Do not starve yourself nor binge. Add your comments daily since these will indicate the reason why you lost or gained weight for that day. You will also understand why you have reached a plateau where you do not lose any no matter what you do. If this happens, evaluate your food intake and your exercise routine. You may have to increase or vary your exercise and diminish your food intake.

Happy weight control in your hands! You alone can do this!

Contributor's Note

Recording your daily food intake, weight and exercise will motivate you in your quest to maintain or lose weight.
